THE BENEFITS OF THE NAME OF JESUS

Today, we want to look at “The unlimited benefits and blessings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

1. There is no salvation apart from the Name of Jesus, and apart from the Lord Jesus Christ (Matt. 1:21). It is the One and only Name through which the sinner can obtain salvation from sin (Acts 4:12).

Buddha, Mohammed, Gandhi, and Allah can't save anyone. Water baptism, works, and wafers can’t save anyone. Only the name of Jesus can save.

2. It is the only Name that works in the time of need (Rom. 10:13; Jer. 33:3).

3. Eternal life can only be found in Christ Jesus (Jn. 3:16; 1 Jn. 5:11-12).

4. There is redemption in the Name of Jesus (Col. 1:14).

What does it mean to be redeemed? Redemption means to buy back into freedom someone who has been in servitude, captivity and bondage to sin.

5. Immersion baptism is in the Name of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38). A believer is not only saved by the Name, but the believer is baptized into the Name.

Three baptisms (baptism into the body of Christ at the new birth; immersion baptism; baptism in the Holy Ghost) are available to everyone, but it is all in the Name of Jesus only.

6. The Name of Jesus guarantees an answer to your prayer (Jn. 16:23-24). The Name of Jesus is the only key that unlocks the doors and windows of Heaven and grant your every need.

7. The Name of Jesus is useful in demanding your rights (Jn. 14:13-14). Here Jesus is not talking about praying to the Father to do something for you. Rather, He is talking about using the Name of Jesus Christ against the devil in your daily life.

“Whatever you demand in My Name, I [Jesus] will do it” (Jn. 14:14). The Greek Version puts it this way, “Whatever ye shall demand as your right and privileges, that shall I do.”

An example of the use of that Name to exercise spiritual authority over the forces of darkness is recorded in Acts 3. Here, Apostle Peter used the authority in the Name of Jesus to command sickness and disease to go.

Here Peter and John were at the gate called Beautiful. In verse 6, Peter said to the cripple, “In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

Peter asked (demanded) that the crippled man get up and walk in the Name of Jesus. In order words, Peter understood what Jesus meant when He said, “Whatever you demand in My Name, I will do it.”

So he said, “I have that Name – and it is my right to use it. So, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” He demanded it in Jesus’ Name, and Jesus got the crippled man up to walk. Peter used the Name of Jesus to set the crippled man free from bondage of Satan.

Later in Acts 3:16 Peter said, “And HIS (Jesus) NAME through faith in HIS NAME, hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by Him hath given him (the crippled man) this perfect soundness...”

8. The name of Jesus defeats the devil (Mk. 16:17). Apostle Paul tried it out in Acts 16:16-18. Notice that this damsel was “possessed with a spirit of divination.” Paul did not speak to the girl.

He spoke to the spirit saying, “I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And it came out the same hour (v. 18). The spirit had to come out. It had no choice because demons must go at the mention of that Name (Phil. 2:8-11).

9. The Name of Jesus provides Protection (Prov. 18:10).

10. Knowledge of His Name will cause God to set you on high.I will set you on high, because you have known My name(Ps. 91:14).

11. God gives us peace that passes all understanding through the name of Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:27; Phil 4:6-7).

12. The devils are subject to the disciples of Christ through the name of Jesus Christ (Lk. 10:17).

13. The believers have been empowered and authorized by Christ to cast out devils wherever they find them (Mk. 16:17-18; Matt. 10:7-9).

14. There is healing in the Name of Jesus Christ. The healing that He has already provided (Isa. 54:3-4; Matt. 8:17; 1 Pet. 2:24) becomes real to us only through His Name.

After Peter spoke the name of Jesus Christ to the lame man pictured above, the lame man was healed (Acts 3:6).

In Acts 4:10 the Bible again proclaimed that the lame man was healed by the name of Jesus saying, “Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole.”

If sickness or disease comes to you, instead of accepting it and talking about your troubles, say, “In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, leave my body immediately.” And the illness must go!

15. The believers have been empowered and authorized by Christ to cast out devils wherever they find them (Mk. 16:17-18).

16. Faith in the name of Jesus will give perfect healing and wellness to the sick (Acts 4:10; Acts 3:16).

Learn to place this Name on your belongings.

Every time I close my apartment door I say the name of Jesus is on my apartment door and my home is safe.

I encourage my friends everywhere to place the name of Jesus on the doors of their homes and everywhere (in their cars) to stop the devil from stealing, killing, and destroying.

Remember the name of Jesus will cast out the devil.

Psalm 20:7 says, “Some trust in chariots and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord (Jesus) our God.”

17. We are justified in the Name of Jesus Christ (Acts 13:38-39; 1 Cor. 6:11).

What does it mean to be justified? To be justified simply means to be declared not guilty before God.

18. We are washed in the Name of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 6:11).

19. We are sanctified in the Name of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 6:11).

20. With faith in the name of Jesus, there is a change in your story. With the name of Jesus in your hand, a new day dawns on your life.

For instance, in Acts 3:6 Peter said to the man that was cripple from birth, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”

21. All in the Name of Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him” (Col. 3:17).

But before the name of Jesus can work for you, you must belong to Him. You must have received Him as your Lord and Saviour. Watch out for the Good News from the Pulpit!
