Today we want to look at some other aspect of “MORE FACTS ABOUT JESUS CHRIST.” Look at the passionate and sincere desire of Apostle Paul:
“That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death” (Phil. 3:10).The following points uncover more facts about Jesus Christ:
1. Christ is eternal. If Christ is not eternal, then He is a creature who came into existence in time and therefore, lacks the quality of being eternal which characterizes God.
2. Christ is self-existent. Because Christ is truly eternal, He is not dependent on another for His existence, but He is self-existent.
3. Christ existed before His birth in Bethlehem. His appearances in the Old Testament (Theophanies) provide historical evidence of His existence in the Old Testament period prior to His birth in Bethlehem.
What are these evidences?
“But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting (whose origins are from of old, from ancient times” (Mic. 5:2).
“Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever before You formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God” (Ps. 90:1-2).
“…before His works of old. 23 I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was” (Prov. 8:22-23, KJV).
“I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began” (Prov. 8:23, NIV).
“Before the mountains were settled in place (born), before the hills I was brought forth (born)” (Prov. 8:25).
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6).
John 1:1 says, “In the beginning (dateless past) was the Word (the Logos), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
The Word in John 1:1 refers to Jesus Christ as we can see in John 1:14 and Revelation 19:13.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (Jn. 1:14).
“And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word of God” (Rev. 19:13).
Here is the point:
In all these Scriptures Christ is declared to be not only “Mighty God” but also “Everlasting Father” or better translated “Father of eternity.”
In Addition: Christ said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Rev. 1:8).
“…These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive” (Rev. 2:8).
4. Christ is an Eternal Being as is also God the Father and the Holy Spirit.
“…Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God” (Ps. 90:1-2).
“How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from acts that lead to death (dead works), so that we may serve the living God?” (Heb. 9:14)
5. Christ Himself claims to be eternal. And God said unto Moses, “I AM THAT I AM: and He said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you” (Ex. 3:14).
6. That Christ is eternal is emphasized also in the NT in even more definite terms than the OT.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (Jn. 1:1).
“I am” is one of the eternal names of God proving that Christ existed before Abraham.
Jesus said unto them, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am” (Jn. 8:58).
7. Christ is the eternal “I AM” of the OT. Christ was not only claiming to have existed before Abraham, but He was claiming to be the eternal I AM, that is the Jehovah of the OT.
8. Evidence that Christ is eternal is also seen in the fact that He created all things including the earth.
“For by Him were ALL things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: ALL things were created by Him, and for Him: 17 And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist” (Col. 1:16-17).
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…3 All things were made (created) by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made” (Jn. 1:1,3).
9. By Christ all things are held together.
“Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding ALL things by the Word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” (Heb. 1:3).
10. Before the creation of the world, Christ has ever been in existence.
Remember that Christ Himself created the world (Jn. 1:1-3). If Christ was before all creation, it is obvious that He Himself could not have been created.
11. Additional evidence that Christ is eternal is found in Ephesians 1:4.
“According as He (God the Father) hath chosen us in Him (Christ) before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love” (Eph. 1:4).
12. Christ is the beginning and the ending of all things.
Jesus said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Rev. 1:8).
Here is the truth: Christ is eternal, Christ is Alpha and Omega, Christ is ageless. Christ is the Ancient of Days.
Conclusion! A revelation of who the Lord Jesus Christ is will put you permanently on the side of victory.
