WALKING IN DOMINION OVER THE SPIRIT OF INFIRMITY!

One major reason why many Born-Again believers are living a life plagued by sickness and disease today is because they do not know their rights and privileges in Christ. From the Scriptures we discover that every Born-Again believer is ordained to walk in dominion over sickness and disease. 

God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth…28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Gen. 1:26, 28).

In the beginning, when God created mankind, He gave man dominion over the earth and everything in it. But man, soon lost that dominion to the devil. As a result of that, man was dominated by the devil from the time of Adam to the time Christ came to redeem humanity (Rom. 5:1-21). 

Dominion is the Birth right of every child of God. Dominion simply means to rule over, to conquer, to subdue and to control. We are not meant to be controlled by circumstances, rather we are created to control circumstances.

So, today we are going to be talking about “WALKING IN DOMINION OVER THE SPIRIT OF INFIRMITY.” The “spirit of infirmity” is the evil spirit that causes sicknesses and diseases in the lives of people.

Jesus said, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18. They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover” (Mk. 16:17-18).

“Behold, I give unto you power (authority) to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Lk. 10:19).

“And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power (authority) against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease” (Matt. 10:1).

How then can one walk in dominion over sickness and disease? To walk in dominion over sicknesses and disease you should:

1. Be Born Again. Only those that are Born Again can walk in dominion over the circumstances and situations of life (Jn. 3:3-7; Rom. 10:9-10).

2. you must know who you are. You are who God said you are in Christ. Let your mind grasp the reality of who you are in Christ, and let this truth settle in your subconscious mind. 

Let the sense of who you are in Christ drive you. In Zechariah 2:8, God is saying to you, “You are most precious to Me; …the apple of my eyes.” 

3. You must not operate in fear. One vital root cause of sickness and disease is the spirit of fear. 

Fear makes us vulnerable to the destroyer (Eccl. 10:8). We are victims of our fears. Whatever you don’t fear cannot befall you. 

Job said, “For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me” (Job 3:25).

When fear came upon Job, that was when the devil smote him with boils from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet (Job 2:7). This was followed by calamities upon calamities by reason of fear. 

We must engage relevant spiritual forces to overcome fear. Nothing dispels fear like light.

We all know that the dominion of light over darkness is instant (Gen. 1:1-3; Jn. 1:4-5, 9-14; Jn. 8:12). So, spiritual understanding is the surest cure for fear because when light comes darkness must give way (Ps. 119:130). Spiritual understanding is therefore, the gateway to dominion over sickness and disease.

When you get the Word of god, that Word will make you free (Rom. 8:32, 36). 

As long as your mind keeps operating in fear you cannot walk in dominion. But access to light destroys the hold of fear over your life. The devil knows that fear cripples a giant not to act. For instance, David was able to stand Goliath because he resisted fear.

In 1 Samuel 17:32, David said, “…no one should be afraid of this uncircumcised Philistine! I will go and fight him.” 

4. Renew your mind with what God has said in His Word concerning healing and Divine Health. To walk in dominion over sickness and disease you must be loaded with the truth on healing and divine health. Until your mind is renewed with the Word of God, you cannot be transformed, and you cannot get the expected result (Rom. 12:2; Col. 3:16; 2 Tim. 2:15; Prov. 4:20-23).

5. Think about (reflect on) what the Word of God says about healing, and Divine health. Continue to think healthy thoughts, “For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he” (Josh. 1:8; Ps. 1:1-3; 1 Tim. 4:15).

Look at some of the things the Scriptures say about divine healing and divine health:

Firstly, you should realize that it is the will of God that you live in divine health (3 Jn. 2). And if you happen to get sick, God is willing to heal you (Mk. 1:40-42).

So, by virtue of the crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are ordained to live a sickness and pain free life (Isa. 53:4-6; Matt. 8:17; 1 Pet. 2:24).

Jesus paid the complete (full) prize for your total healing and total health. It is now your legal right to walk in dominion over sickness and disease.

6. You must continue to confess words that do not contradict what God has said about healing or divine health.

Proverbs 18:21 says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Psalm 34:12-13 says, “What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.”

“keep your lips from speaking guile” Some people say, “I am finished! As a matter of fact, I am dead! I am feeling feverish.”

But God instructed us saying, “…let the weak say, I am strong” (Joel 3:10). Let the sick say that I am well.

Do not say what you are seeing or feeling. Rather declare what you want to see (Rom. 4:17). The angels are on duty 24/7 and they are instructed to deliver to you whatsoever you say (Heb. 1:14). So, whatever you declare, the angels are under obligation to deliver.

So, what you say today is what you will see tomorrow. Whatsoever your Father in heaven says, He creates. And you are created in His image and after His likeness. 

So, whatever you say, you create also. If you say, “I am not well,” you have created not being well. If you say “I am sick,” you have created sickness for yourself (Mk. 11:23).

Therefore, if you want to walk in dominion, you must speak words that do not contradict the will of God. What you say is what you will have, not what a demon said. Conclusion: Therefore, as a child of God, you have every right to enforce your authority over the spirit of infirmity.
