WHAT IS DIVINE FAVOUR?

This year God has promised us UNCOMMON FAVOUR. Psalm 102:13 says, “Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion:  for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come.”

Today we want to look at THE MEANING OF DIVINE FAVOUR! Here is the truth: You can never work hard enough to earn all the money you require to take care of all you need in life. It is impossible for you to accomplish on your own what God has in your future (Jer. 29:11).

There are places He’s going to take you that you can’t get to by yourself. There may be obstacles that look too big, dreams that seem impossible. You’ll surely need assistance for where you’re going.

The good news is this: God has put something on you that gives you an advantage, something that will open doors that you can’t open, something that will make you stand out in the crowd. It’s called “favour.”

God helps you to accomplish what you could have never been able to achieve on your own. With His blessings, you stand out in the crowd and get breaks that you didn’t deserve. The psalmist said, “God’s favour surrounds us like a shield.” (Ps. 5:12).

That means that everywhere you go, you have an advantage, a divine empowerment, and a key to open up the right doors.

God wants you to reach new levels of fulfilment, new levels of increase, new levels of promotion, and new levels of victory. You have been called out, set apart, and chosen to live a distinctively favoured life.

No matter what you are going through right now, just know that case is not hopeless and one hour is too much for God to change your story and that will be your testimony, in Jesus’ name!

What you need to change your situation is the favour of God. “One day of favour is worth a thousand days of labour.”

What then is the meaning of God’s Favour? 1. The “favour of God” can be described as a divine kindness, or an act of true compassion on the part of God Himself toward the needy and undeserving human recipients.

2. It means support of the Almighty God (Prov. 16:15).

3. It also means the mercy of the Almighty God (Ps. 44:3; Ps. 30:5).

Often, in Scripture, this act of God toward unworthy men or women is referred to as God’s “grace” – which means “the unmerited favour of God.”

4. God’s favour is God giving you the ability to do something which is humanly impossible for you to do. It is God’s ability put on your ability to enable you do what you could have never ever been able to do on your own ability.

5. Divine favour is an act of kindness (2 Sam. 9:1-13). And David said, “Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?” (2 Sam. 9:1).

6. Divine favour is God’s countenance shining upon someone (Num. 6:25-26). That will be your testimony from now! No matter the crowd, God’s favour will single you out in the name of Jesus! The favour of God will distinguish you wherever you go from today, in Jesus’ name!

7. Divine favour is above human favour because whatever is from above is above all. The moment a man has divine favour, it promotes the favour of men.

Psalm 44:3 says, “For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.”

You are the next in line for divine favour! The above scripture will find express manifestation in your life! The favour of God will locate you today and you will not struggle anymore, in the name of Jesus!

Luke 2:52 says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”

When God favours you, men must favour you including those who don’t like you because it is divine favour that provokes the favour of men. All-round favour is provoked by divine favour. From today, may the favour of God locate you wherever you go! North, South, East and West, you will be highly favoured! Every document bearing your name shall be smelling uncommon favour, in Jesus’ name! (Deut. 7:6, 14).

8. Divine favour is a spiritual catalyst. A catalyst is a substance that hastens the rate of a chemical reaction, but remains unchanged at the end of the reaction. That is what God’s favour does to your destiny.

9. Divine favour is the divine current that takes you from your present season to your future dream.

10. Divine favour is when someone has a desire to solve a problem for you. Favour is undeserved access to your destiny.

11. Divine favour is Heaven making your vision a reality. Favour is that divine spade with which God digs you out of trouble.

12. Divine favour is the key that takes away limitations from your life. Example is the case of Jabez (1 Chron. 4:9-10). Jabez was limited by the pronouncements of his mother.

13. Divine favour is Divine assistance (backing). Here Heaven decides to help you. I pray that God will back you up in everything you do this year, IJN.

14. Divine favour is God granting you goodwill not because of the good you have done.

15. Divine favour is unfair divine partiality. For instance: Romans 9:13-16 says, “…Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated...”

Can anyone explain why Jacob was loved and Esau was hated? It is just the decision of our sovereign God.

16. Divine favour denotes divine preference where God prefers you to others. The king preferred Esther and her maidens above the other women in the house (Esther 3:9).

Again Mary was preferred above all the other women in Israel. “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God…” (Lk. 1:30-31). I pray that this year, you will find favour with God and with men, IJN.

17. Divine favour is the only thing that can give you more than you work for. Favour is your ladder to the top. For instance, because of God’s favour on Daniel’s life, he was lifted to the top.

Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm” (Dan. 6:3).

18. Divine favour is what God puts in your hand that makes you an instrument for building the Kingdom of God.

19. Divine favour is when value is placed upon your life, so that you become an outstanding person.

20. Divine favour is when God decides to treat you well. Favour is that which distinguishes you as the apple of God’s eye.

21. Divine favour is the Benediction, i.e. God’s blessing resting on your life (1 Thess. 5:28). For instance, it is only by God’s undeserved favour that we can experience eternal life, and it is only by God’s grace that we have the ability to live for the Lord in this world.

God’s Word provides two overarching examples of God’s favour toward mankind.

i) The first and most important act of God’s favour is salvation. “For by grace (God’s favour) are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph. 2:8-9).

No one can earn salvation. We do not even deserve salvation, and we do not have the ability to “save” ourselves. That is exactly why we need God’s favour.

ii) Another example of God’s Favour is the strength to live for God:

In 2 Timothy 2:1 Apostle Paul told his student Timothy, “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.”

Here, God’s grace gave Timothy the ability or strength to do something that was humanly impossible for him to do.

Examples of those that found favour with God abound in the Scriptures:

1. Joseph found favour in the sight of Potiphar. Joseph carried the anointing of favour. He was a carrier of grace (Gen. 39:2-6).

2. Joseph found favour in prison (Gen. 39:21-23).

3. Daniel also found favour before King Darius (Dan. 6).

4. Mephibosheth found favour before King David because of what his father Jonathan did (2 Sam. 9).

The good you do today will cause favour to come upon your generations tomorrow.

5. Queen Esther won the favour of Hegai and everyone that saw her (Esther 2:9, 15) and subsequently that of King Xerxes (Esther 2:17-18; 5:3-8).

6. Ruth found favour before Boaz (Ruth 3, 4). In Exodus 32:11 Moses sought the favour of the Lord. In Exodus 33:12-13, Moses found favour with God.

In conclusion, know for sure that you too can find favour with God and men.
