“Watch ye therefore, and pray always (1 Thess. 5:17), that ye may be accounted worthy to ESCAPE all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man” (Lk. 21:36).
How is one considered worthy by God? Our worthiness comes through faith in the Lord Jesus. The work of God, according to Jesus, is to believe in One He sent (Jn. 6:29). It is through faith that a person is declared righteous in God's sight (Rom. 4:3-6).
How are you going to be worthy? The only thing that will make you worthy is your position in Christ. Therefore, if you have trusted Him as your Lord and Savior, and you have committed your way to Him, so that if you are alive at the time of the Rapture, you'll go to meet Him in the air.
Why then does Jesus tell us to pray that we may be counted worthy? He is emphasizing the importance of making sure we are in this escape. The alternative will be terrible! He is emphasizing the importance of making sure that you are truly Born Again.
So, what must I do to ensure that I escape the Tribulation? The only way you can escape the Tribulation is to ensure that you are taken up in the Rapture of the church which must happen before the Tribulation begins. And to be raptured:
1. You must be genuinely Born Again. What does it mean to be Born Again? To be Born Again means:
To be born from above (Jn. 3:6) by the Spirit of God (Jn. 3:6) through (with) the Word of God (Jn. 3:16; Jam. 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:23; Rom. 1:16; Acts 11:14).
Born with the Word of God! “Of His own will begat He us with the Word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures” (Jam. 1:18).
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith” (Rom. 1:16-17).
And Cornelius shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, “Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter; 14 Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved” (Acts 11:13-14).
In a sense, it means to be born two times. Nicodemus saith unto Jesus, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born (1) of water and (2) of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God” (Jn. 3:4-5).
1. The first time you were born, you were born by human parents. But the second time you were born, you were born by the Holy Ghost.
2. The first time you were born, you were born by the seed of a man – the sperm cells. But the second time you were born, you were born by the seed of God – His Word.
3. The first time you were born, the name of your biological father became your surname. But the second time you were born, Jehovah became your surname.
4. The first time you were born, you were born from below. But the second time you were born, you were born from above.
5. The first time you were born, you were born into the kingdom of this world – into trouble and chaos. But the second time you were born, you were born out of this world into the Kingdom of God.
6. The first time you were born, you were born into a place that is temporal. But the second time you were born, you were born into a place that is eternal.
7. The first time you were born, your name was written in a certain book in this world. But the second time you were born, your name was written in the Book of life in Heaven.
8. The first time you were born, you became a citizen of Nigeria. But the second time you were born, you became a citizen of Heaven. God the Father, at the Cross, treated Jesus Christ as though He hath committed your sins though He was righteous. Therefore, because you believe and trust in Christ, God treats you as though you were as righteous as Christ. You have been given the right (ability) to stand before God as though you never committed any sins. You have been declared righteous (Isa. 5:11; Isa. 53:6-7; Rom. 3:23; 1 Cor. 1:30; 2 Cor. 5:21).
While man gives birth by sexual reproduction, God gives birth by the spoken Word (Jn. 1:13; 1 Jn. 4:7; Prov. 18:21).
How can a person be Born Again? Just obey Romans 10:9-10 and Ephesians 2:8-9.
Time is running out. Proverbs 27:1 says, “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth” (NASU).
Don’t be caught unprepared when the trumpet sounds because Christ is the only One that can bring you to Heaven (Acts 4:12; 1 Tim. 2:5; Jn. 14:6). So, hurry and make peace with God right now!
