UNDERSTANDING DREAMS

Today, we are going to look at “UNDERSTANDING DREAMS!” Amos 3:7 says, “Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants the prophets.”

God reveals these things through visions and dreams. God said, “Hear now My words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make Myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream” (Num. 12:6).

Realize that when you sleep, you are regarded as dead. In Ephesians 5:14 the Bible says, “Awake, you who sleep. Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light” (NKJV).

What is a dream? A dream is a reflection of your subconscious mind. In the Bible a dream is viewed primarily as a natural phenomenon of sleep or as a supernatural channel through which God communicates divine revelation, warnings and prophetic insight to humans.

God used dreams to: 1) Reveal His future plans, 2) Guide patriarchs, and 3) Speak to both believers and foreign kings (e.g., Joseph’s dreams, Pharaoh’s and Nebuchadnezzar's prophetic dreams interpreted by Joseph and Daniel). It was in a dream that Joseph was instructed to take the child and the mother to Egypt – a place of safety.

There are different kinds of dreamers:

1. Those that don’t dream at all. It is a sign of spiritual deadness when you don’t dream. The tragedy of no dreaming is such that if God is talking to you, you will not know, and if the devil is planning to attack you, you will not know also.  If the dream is to warn you not to walk into fire but you still walk into it because you could not see, you are the one to suffer the consequences.

2. Those that cannot recall their dreams:  You know that you had an important dream, but you cannot remember the dream because the devil has ceased your information.

3. The third class of dreamers are called Nightmares: When a dream becomes a nightmare, it can be terrible. A nightmare is a very scary or upsetting dream that wakes you up. It often causes strong feelings like fear, panic or sadness.

4. Multiple dreamers: You can dream about 20 dreams in one night. The enemy is suffocating your spiritual monitor so that you won’t be able to discern it correctly. You are a victim of what we call “Suffocating Information.”

5. Manipulated Dreamers: The enemy is presented to you as friends, and friends presented to you as enemies. So, you get confused.

6. Vagabond Dreamers: A little here, a little there. You dream of London, Kaduna, Aba, Lagos-unsettled dreaming. When you go to bed, it is as if you are walking about like a vagabond.

7. Infirmity Dreams: The dreams don’t make sense, but could be terrifying. Such is what we call “Malaria Dreams.” Someone who is sick can be having Infirmity Dreams.

8. Business of the day Dream: You go to bed, and you are seeing everything that happened in the office.

9. Warfare Dreams: Somebody is pursuing you with matchet, gun in your dream. He wants to destroy you.

10. Reverse Dreamers: When such people have good dreams, bad things happen and vice versa.

11. Prophetic Dreamers: You dream about things that will happen in the future – Word of Wisdom. God shows it to you and you dream it in a dream.

12. Terror Dreams: You wake up from the dream shaking, sweating. You have dreamt of things that terrified you in the dream.

13. Witchcraft Dreams: Somebody is making you fly and you know that you don’t have wings. You find yourself among strange people. You don’t recognize them but you know they are wicked people.

14. Familiar Spirit Dreams (Ogbanje Dreams): You see yourself playing with some people in your dream.

15. Guidance Dreams: Guiding you about what to do, where to go and where not to go.

16. Eraser Dreams: You dream a dream, then you dream another one. The second one erases the first one. When you sleep, you find yourself dreaming dreams in your dream.

17. Perpetual Dreamers: Anytime you dose off you find yourself dreaming terrible dreams.

18. Warning Dreams: Here someone is telling you not to go to a certain place or not to eat in a certain home.

19. Trigger Dreams: Immediately after such dreams, something always goes wrong. In a certain case, when a brother wanted to go for an interview in the morning, someone came and gave him palm wine in the night in his dream. Once he drinks the palm wine in that dream, problem starts.

20. Sleep Walking Dreams: You walk around in your dreams physically. A certain man was having such a dream. He took a rope physically, put it on the neck of his wife, tightened to rope on her neck, and the woman died, all these happening physically while the man was sleep walking. It took time for the man to understand that he has killed his wife. The man thought it was just a dream.

21. Materialization Dreams: This is a witchcraft attack. They do something to you in the dream and it appears physically in your body. Example of Pastor Epwe.

22. Double Life Dreamer: Yes, you have a family, but immediately you sleep you enter into another family completely, with another wife and children. Yes, you have a family, but immediately you sleep you enter into another family completely, with another wife and children.

23. Occasional Dreamers: Here you dream once in a long while.

24. Rare Dreamers: Once you dream, it comes with problems.

25. Dream Pollution: The agenda of dream pollution is to ensure that you are not in the position where God wants you to be. The agenda of dream pollution is to ensure that the more you pray, the more your troubles multiply. Watch out for Good News from the Pulpit!
