Today I am speaking on “THE BENEFITS OF SPEAKING IN THE HOLY GHOST!” The greatest things that will ever happen to you in your walk with God will come as a result of praying in the Holy Ghost.
Apostle Paul said, “I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all.”
“Speaking in tongues” is the same as “speaking in the Holy Ghost.” Speaking in the Holy Ghost is “a high voltage” prayer. Speaking in the Holy Ghost on its own has many benefits, and such benefits include:
1. Speaking in the Holy Ghost shows that you are a Born-Again believer (Mk. 16:17).
2. Speaking in the Holy Ghost is the initial physical evidence of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4). For instance, in Acts 10, the brethren of the circumcision who had come with Peter to the household of Cornelius were astonished when they saw that the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Gentiles too. They thought that salvation and baptism in the Holy Ghost were for the Jews only.
3. Tongues are supernatural means of speaking to God. When you speak in tongues you speak mysteries supernaturally to God (1 Cor. 14:2). When you pray in tongues, your spirit-man is in direct contact with God the Father, who is a Spirit.
4. Tongues are divine means of spiritual edification (1 Cor. 14:4; Jude v. 20). If you want to be spiritually strong; if you want to be full of spiritual power, you must pray regularly in the Holy Ghost.
A man that prays in tongues is a man of power. The more you speak in tongues, the more fully your battery is recharged. Therefore, the longer you speak in tongues, the greater your power.
As you speak or pray in the Holy Ghost, you are being strengthened with might by the Holy Ghost in your inner man (Eph. 3:14-16). This is what really happens: As you speak in tongues, you are charging up your spiritual battery.
5. Speaking and praying in tongues will continuously renew your spirit-man (2 Cor. 4:16). Here is the truth: You were not fully spiritually developed at the moment you were converted. But the same Holy Ghost at work in the New Birth is the One Who helps you to develop and grow spiritually.
How does that spiritual development take place? It happens as you get your inward man renewed daily. We are to seek God for constant renewals of our spirit man (Isa. 40:30-31).
When you wait before God, praying in the Spirit, you’ll not only be refreshed and renewed in your inner man, but that spiritual renewal will also affect your mind and your physical being (Eph. 3:16).
6. Praying in the Holy Ghost can make you healthier by boosting your immune system. A few years ago, a brain surgeon at Oral Roberts University did a study of what happens in the brain when people pray in the Holy Ghost. He found that they secreted two chemicals that can boost the immune system by 35-40%!
7. Speaking in the Holy Ghost opens the Scriptures to you from a Divine perspective. It clears spiritual blindness from your spiritual eyes.
8. Speaking in tongues helps to bring your tongue under control (Jam. 3:8). Yielding your tongue to the Holy Spirit to speak with other tongues is a big step toward being able to fully yield all of your members to God; because if you can yield your tongue, then you can yield any other member of your body to God.
9. Speaking in the Holy Ghost helps to develop your prayer life. If you used to pray in your understanding for 10 minutes, you can now pray for 1 hr or more in the Holy Ghost.
10. Speaking in the Holy Ghost opens heaven for you and changes your atmosphere. Praying or speaking in the Holy Ghost charges your atmosphere with the power of God.
11. Speaking in the Holy Ghost helps you to form a prayer partner with the Holy Spirit. Speaking in the Holy Ghost is a spirit to Spirit communication with the Father. When you pray in the Holy Ghost, your spirit-man is in direct contact with the Spirit of God (1 Cor. 14:14). God is a Spirit (Jn. 4:24).
12. By speaking with other tongues the Holy Spirit prepares you for things to come. The Holy Spirit knows the future, and He will show you things to come. This He does by prompting you to pray in the Holy Ghost. In John 16:13 Jesus said, “…and He will shew you things to come.”
13. Speaking with other tongues keeps you continually aware of the Holy Spirit’s indwelling Presence. And this consciousness keeps you from doing anything that contradicts God’s Word. Praying and worshipping God in the Holy Ghost will help you not to lose your temper. It will help you to walk in the Spirit.
14. Speaking in the Holy Ghost will help you to magnify God (Acts 10:45-46). Speaking in tongues assists us in the worship of God. To “magnify” means to praise or give thanks to God.
15. Speaking in the Holy Ghost brings peace to your life. This is because praying in tongues helps you to stay (fix, focus) your mind on God (Isa. 26:3). This brings peace to your life.
16. Speaking in the Holy Ghost will help you set your affections on things above (Col. 3:1-2).
17. Speaking in the Holy Ghost is the doorway into the supernatural. Praying in tongues is an introduction to the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:1-11). The more you pray and worship God in tongues the more the manifestation of the other gifts of the Holy Spirit in your life.
18. Speaking with tongues and interpreting the tongues can convince any unbeliever who is present in the service of the reality of the Presence of God, and that often causes him/her to turn to the Lord (1 Cor. 14:22).
19. Revelation comes by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Ghost would reveal different steps in God’s plan for your life as you take time to pray in the Holy Ghost and fellowship with the Father (Acts 13:1-2; 1 Cor. 2:9-10).
Conclusion: Beloved, speaking in the Holy Ghost regularly will do you plenty of good. It is the entrance into all the spiritual gifts. It is the supernatural equipment God has given to you. Tongues is a flowing stream that should never be allowed to dry up, but will enrich your life spiritually. I therefore, encourage you to use it regularly without restraint!
