WHY MUST I KNOW THE HOLY SPIRIT?

For you to experience the unlimited BREAKTHROUGH that God has ordained for us this year, you must know the Person of the Holy Spirit. If you don’t know Him, you cannot profit from Him and breakthrough in any area of your life is not possible.

Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is the third Person in the Godhead (Trinity) (1 Jn. 5:7; Gen. 1:1-3; Matt. 28:18-19; Lk. 3:21-22).

Knowing the Holy Spirit as the official COMFORTER (Jn. 14:26) is a cure for:

1. Spiritual weakness. Spiritual weakness refers to infirmities, inabilities (Rom. 8:26).

2. Insomnia. What is insomnia? Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep or to remain asleep long enough to feel rested, especially as a problem continuing over time.

The Holy Spirit serves as a sleep inducer. When you commune with the Holy Spirit on your bed (2 Cor. 13:13), you won’t know when you sleep off. Communing with the Holy Spirit on your bed drives away all those worries that keep you awake.

3. FEARFear and anxiety are normal responses to threatening situations. However, The Holy Spirit is with you wherever you go. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 13:6). He will help you confront and overcome any situation in life no matter how threatening they may appear to be (Jn. 14:16-17, Ps 91:5-13).

The Holy Ghost is the One that raises a standard against any enemy that comes against you (Isa. 59:19; 1 Jn. 4:4).

4The worries of life. We worry about so many things in life. We worry about job security. We worry about unexpected expenses. We worry when our children ride their bikes around the block for the first time.

Worry can distract and paralyze you and can even lead to a sinful denial of God’s presence and grace in your life.

Scripture teaches that we find rest from inappropriate worry when we admit we can’t control the future and entrust ourselves-and our loved ones-to the God who does. When you talk with the Holy Spirit, worry will have no place in your life. In Matthew 6:25-32, 34 Jesus instructed us to live a worry-free life.

5. Frustration. Frustration is a feeling of disappointment, exasperation, or weariness caused by aims being thwarted or desires unsatisfied. Frustrations are temporary obstacles that can be overcome, not by eliminating them, but by persevering through them with the help of the Holy Ghost.

Frustration empties you, confuses you, undercuts you, makes you feel like you were so close and yet so far away. But God offers us the bigger picture (Rom. 8:26-28):

6. LonelinessThe Holy Spirit is your greatest companion. You become lonely when you have no person to talk with, to play with, to share ideas with, to un-burden yourself to. But your case is different because the Holy Spirit is with you (Deut. 31:6), and in you (1Jn. 4:4). He is always with you. He lives in your spirit-man (Rom. 8:16). Wherever you go to, the Holy Spirit is there in you. You are carrying Him around. He will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 13:6).

7. A broken heart (a hurting heart): I agree that you have been hurt beyond measure. Allow the Holy Spirit to occupy that aching emptiness [space] in your heart. No one can ever console you, or comfort you, or heal your hurts like the Holy Spirit. He is the official Comforter (Jn. 14:26). He picks up the pieces of a heart that is thoroughly broken and He puts them together again. He is the One that tells you those sweet and powerful Words from the Scriptures when you are hurting.

Does a particular door seem to have closed against you and you are so disappointed and discouraged? The Holy Spirit is the One that reminds you that every closed door against you is an open door in the direction that God wants you to go. He is the One that reminds you that many are the afflictions of the righteous but God will deliver you from them all. He is the One that reminds you that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. He is the One that assures you that all things will work together for good for you because you love God and you are called of God according to His divine purpose (Rom. 8:28). When every door appears to be shut against you, He is the One that reminds you that God will make a way for you where men say there is no way – He will even make a way for you in the wilderness.

8. Helplessness. The Holy Spirit is your helper. He is very reliable. In every instance He is there to help you (Jn. 14:26; Heb. 13:5-6; Acts 18:10; Isa. 41:10).

9. Knowledge of the Holy Spirit will fill your house with all precious and pleasant riches (Prov. 24:4).

10. Knowledge of the Holy Spirit will increase your strength (Prov. 24:5).

11. Knowledge of the Holy Spirit will deliver you from trouble (Ps. 119:9).

12. Knowledge of the Holy Spirit will make you free (Jn. 8:32).

13. Knowledge of the Holy Spirit will empower you to do exploits for God (Dan. 11:32).

Knowing the Person of the Holy Spirit is a must for everyone who wants to succeed in life (Zech. 4:6). I challenge you to get to know Him better and make Him your senior partner and your life will never remain the same again.
