YOUR POSITION IN CHRIST!

One major reason why many Christians are living a life of oppression and defeat in the hand of the devil today is because they do not know about their exalted position in Christ.

God said, “My people are gone into captivity (Isa. 5:13), or are destroyed (Hos. 4:6) because they lack knowledge.”

In Luke 15:11-32 we read the story of the prodigal son. Many Christians today are like the prodigal son in this parable who, being ignorant of his position as a son, took his own share of the father’s wealth and went to a far country to spend it on riotous living.

A time came that his resources finished, and he joined himself to a certain man in that strange land so as to earn a living. Because he was so hungry, and no one gave him anything to eat, he ate “husks” from the pig’s portion.

After hunger has wired him for a while, the prodigal son suddenly came to himself, realizing his position in his father’s house as a son.

He quickly rose up from his position of poverty where he was glad to eat the “husks” meant for the pigs, returned to his father, and was restored to his position as a son and heir.

Beloved, you are where you are today suffering because you have not yet realized your exalted position in Christ.

Here is the point: As a New Creation you have a new position because you are in Christ. You are not where people say you are. You are where God says you are. Therefore today, I want to show you from the Scriptures “WHERE GOD SAYS YOU ARE” – your Position. God says:

1. You have been crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20). “Crucified with Christ” means the believer’s old, sinful nature was spiritually nailed to the cross with Jesus Christ, ending the reign of sin. “Crucified with Christ” signifies a union with Christ where the believer dies to the world and selfish desires, resulting in a new life lived by faith in Christ, who now lives within him/her. “Crucified with Christ” implies that believers are freed from the penalty and power of sin, as the old, corrupt, adamic nature has been executed.

2. You died with Christ (Col. 2:20; Rom. 6:8; 2 Cor. 5:14). “Died with Christ” means that a believer has spiritually united with Christ in His death. This identification with Christ’s crucifixion ends the slavery to sin and the Law. “Died with Christ” means that “your old self” died with Christ, specifically your old self in its attachment to sin.

3. You were buried with Christ (Col. 2:12; Rom. 6:4). Being buried with Christ in baptism is a central Christian doctrine symbolizing the death of the “old self” and resurrection to a new life. The immersion in water represents burial with Jesus, while coming out of the water signifies rising with Him to a new life.

4. You have been quickened (made alive) together with Christ (Eph. 2:5; Col. 2:13).

5. You have been raised up together with Christ (Eph. 2:6). “Raised with Christ,” based on Colossians 3:1 and Ephesians 2:6, means that believers, through faith, share in Jesus’ resurrection life, spiritually transitioning from death in sin to a new life. It signifies being united with Him, having a new identity, and setting one’s perspective on heavenly, rather than earthly, things. “Raised with Christ” signifies a position of spiritual honour, authority and freedom from the bondage of sin.

6. You have ascended into the third Heaven with Christ (Col. 3:1; Acts 1:11). This is not merely a future hope, but a present reality a spiritual position that believers occupy right now, signifying union with Christ, in His resurrection. It means passing from spiritual death to life, receiving a new identity.

7.  You are now seated together in heavenly places with Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6). This means that believers are spiritually united with Jesus, sharing His resurrected life, authority and position of honour above all the forces of darkness.

Now, here is the truth: You

1. Have been crucified with Christ (Gal. 2:20).

2. Died together with Christ (Col. 2:20; Rom. 6:8; 2 Cor. 5:14).

3. Were buried together with Christ (Col. 2:12; Rom. 6:4).

4. Have been made alive together with Christ (Eph. 2:5; Col. 2:13).

5. Have been raised up together with Christ (Eph. 2:6).

6. Have ascended into the third Heaven together with Christ (Col. 3:1).

7. Are now seated together in heavenly places with Christ Jesus (Eph. 2:6).

This position is far above ALL principality and powers and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come (Eph. 2:5-6; 1:20-21). This position is a position of victory, a place of the supernatural, a place of the miraculous, and a place of total security. It is the highest place in the third heaven.

I challenge you today to come to yourself, realize your exalted position in Christ, rise up from your position of defeat, where you are barely existing on the “husks” of religion which is totally devoid of power, and return to your heavenly Father to claim your position and rights as a son.

Until you believe that you have also ascended with Christ and are now seated with Him at a position of ultimate power and authority, Satan will continue to exercise his power over your life so as to ensure that he frustrates you out of God’s blessings.

Now that you know your position in Christ, allow this truth to sink deep down into your sub-conscious mind, believe it and act like it, and you will be amazed at the results it will produce in your life – the issue of Inferiority Complex will disappear from your life.

The realization of your exalted position in Christ will make you more than a conqueror. Talk about your position in Christ! Think it! Believe it! And confess it! As you do this, your faith will rise above your fears and you will face life without fear walking in total victory every moment of your life.
