WHO IS THIS?

Today, being the Sunday before “the Resurrection Morning,” 

Christians all over the world remember the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, singing Hosanna. “Hosanna” in the Hebrew language means “victory now!” Therefore, victory is coming your way today.

Many people know about Jesus, but they do not really know Him because they have no revelation of Him. So today we want to focus on “KNOWING JESUS.”

 

Apostle Paul said, “That I MAY KNOW HIM…” (Phil. 3:10).

 “WHO IS THIS JESUS?” This is the question people have been asking over the centuries. 

 

i) The crowd of the Passover visitors asked this question (Jn. 12:32-34).

 

ii) The men at the table in a dinner in Simon’s house asked the same question (Lk. 7:47-49).

 

iii) The scribes and the Pharisees asked the same question (Lk. 5:17-21).

 

iv) The 12 disciples of Jesus asked the same question (Lk. 8:22).

 

v) Even kings like Herod asked the same question (Luke 7:7-9).

 

vi) A whole city asked the same question. When Jesus came into Jerusalem, the whole city was so moved that they were asking the question saying, “WHO IS THIS?" (Matt. 12:1-10). 

 

We must realize that it is the will of God the Father for His children to know Jesus Christ personally. Jesus said, “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee (God the Father) the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (Jn. 17:3).

 

Here is the Truth: It is only God the Father that can reveal the person of Jesus Christ to whomsoever He wishes (Matt. 11:27).

 

1. He revealed the person of Jesus Christ to Apostle Peter (Matt. 6:13-17). And when Peter caught this revelation, he walked on water at Jesus’ instruction (Matt. 14:22-32). 

 

When you catch a revelation of the person of Jesus Christ you will walk in the supernatural. No matter what you are going through right now, all you need is the revelation of the Person of Jesus Christ.

 

A revelation of Jesus Christ will bring your situation to an immediate halt because Jesus is everything you want Him to be to you at any point in time. Are you in need of salvation? He is your Saviour (Acts 4:12). Are you in need? He is your Provider. Are you sick? He is your Healer. Are you lonely? He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother (Prov. 18:24). He is your Righteousness.  He is your wisdom. He is your sanctification. He is your Redeemer (1 Cor. 1:30), etc.

 

Do you know that you are still sick because you have not received the revelation of the fact that He is JEHOVAH RAPHA.

 

You are in need because you have not received the revelation of the fact that He is EL-SHADDAI. He is JEHOVAH JIREH.

 

In Matthew 16:33 Jesus asked His disciples, saying, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” And the disciples said to Jesus, “Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets” (Matt. 16:14).

 

Then Jesus asked each one of His disciples, saying, “BUT WHOM SAY YE THAT I AM? (Matt. 16:15). Out of the 12 disciples, only Peter knewJesus Christ. Simon Peter answered and said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt.16:16).

 

Can you see that even disciples His did not know Him except Peter? This implies that you may be a member of HOG but that does not guarantee that you know Jesus.

 

How did Apostle Peter know the correct identity of Jesus Christ? He knew Jesus Christ by the revelation given to him directly by God the Father. 

 

And Jesus answered and said unto Peter, “Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not REVEALED it (who I am) unto thee, but My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 16:17).

 

2. God the Father revealed the person of Jesus Christ to Apostle Paul (Gal. 1:12; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3-4).

 

3. He also revealed the person of Jesus Christ to Apostle John in the Island of Pathmos (Rev. 1:1).

 

The revelation of Jesus Christ came in various ways in the Scriptures:

a) By the introduction Jesus Christ made of Himself. In a number of places in the Scriptures Jesus took time to introduce Himself. He said, “I AM…:”

1. From above. In John 8:32 Jesus said unto them, “Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.”

 

2. The Bread of Life! In John 6:35 Jesus said, “I am the bread of life...” In John 6:51 Jesus said, “I am the l iving bread which came down from heaven...”

 

3. The Light of the world! In John 8:12 Jesus said, “I am the light of the world...”

 

4. He! In John 8:23-24 Jesus said, “...I am He...”

 

5. The Door! In John 10:7-9 Jesus said, “...I am the door...” 

 

6. The Way, the Truth, and the Life! In John 14:6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life...”

 

7. The Good Shepherd! In John 10:14 Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd...”

 

8. The Resurrection and the Life! In John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, “I am the resurrection, and the life...”

 

9. The True Vine! John 15:1 says, “I am the true vine ...”

 

In John 15:5-7 Jesus said, “I am the vine, ye are the branches:

 

10. The Alpha and the Omega! In Revelations 1:8 Jesus said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

 

11. The Root and the Offspring of David! In Revelations 22:16 Jesus said, “I am the root and the offspring of David ...”

 

12. The Bright and Morning Star! In Revelations 22:16 Jesus said, “...I am the bright and morning star.”

 

b) By the names the Scriptures call Jesus. According to the Bible He is:

·       To those that are walking in darkness, HE IS THE GREAT LIGHT THAT SHINNETH INTO DARKNESS AND DARKNESS COMPREHENDED IT NOT (Jn. 1:5).

What do you call Him? I call Him Jehovah overdo! “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Eph. 3:20).

 

I call Him Isi-Iyi Nke Ndu! (Jer. 17:13). I call Him Echeta-Obi-Esie-Ike! I call Him Ochiri-Ozua! I call Him Eze-chitaoke Abiama Ura!, Omenukor!

 

Conclusion: A revelation of who the Lord Jesus Christ is will put you permanently on the side of victory.
