CATCHING A PERSONAL REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST

Last week we looked at “Revelation Knowledge.” Today I am sharing on - “CATCHING A PERSONAL REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST!”  Many people both in and outside the church know about Jesus, but they do not know Jesus. Even many that claim to be Born-Again believers do not know Jesus Christ.

John 1:10 says, “He came unto His own, but His own (Born-Again Believers) knew Him not.”

His own received Him not because they knew Him not. They had no revelation of Him. But as many as had a revelation of Jesus Christ, to them gave He the power to become the sons of God, to prosper, to be healed, to enjoy divine health, to be promoted, to do signs and wonders etc.

To experience the blessings of God in your life, you must have a personal revelation of who Christ really is.

Here is the truth: we can only know Jesus by revelation.

In Matthew 16:13 Jesus asked His disciples, “Whom do me say that I the Son of Man am? Whom do men identify Me with? Whom do they say I am like?”

In Matthew 16:14 the disciples answered saying, “Some identify You with John the Baptist, some identify you with Isaiah, and others say you are like Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.”

But in Matthew 16:15 Jesus asked the disciples specifically saying, “Who do you (that have been with Me) say that I am? Who do you say I am like?

Out of the 12 disciples, only Peter knew Jesus Christ. Look at Simon’s confession of faith when Jesus asked that ageless question, “You identify with God the Father, and Your identity is Christ” (Matt. 16:16).

Jesus replying Simon said, “Simon, the knowledge you have, you can’t take credit for it. It is My Father in Heaven that revealed My identity to you.”

Jesus said, “Simon, now that you know who I am, let Me reveal to you who you are.”

And as a result of the revelation you received, “I can now reveal to you your own identity. You are no more Simon, but you are Peter [a large piece of the Rock], and upon this Rock [revelation] I will build My church” (Matt 16:18).

1 John 4:17 says, “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the Day of Judgment: because as He is, so are we in this world.”

The word “Christian” means “just like Christ.” Beloved, until you grasp your identity, you’ll not be able to profit from the Kingdom of God. It is only when you have a revelation of Jesus Christ that the gates of hell will not be able to prevail against you. This key will help you to rule and reign in this world.

We shall reign by Jesus Christ. Romans 5:17 says, “For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”

Where shall we reign? Revelation 5:10 says, “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”

For how long shall we reign? Revelation 22:5 says, “And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign forever and ever.”

Jesus was saying, “Peter, you are a part of this revelation. You are not the Rock, you are a piece of the Rock.”

Beloved, the very moment you receive the revelation of the Word of God concerning any area of your life, you also become a piece of this great Rock. Every Christian that has this revelation is also a piece of this Rock. Put the pieces of this Rock together, we have a large Rock, the Body of Christ. No devil can prevail against the Body of Christ.

Jesus Christ is the living Word of God (Jn 1:1-14). When you receive a revelation of the Word of God, you receive the revelation of Jesus Christ. Upon that revelation you receive, God will build His church, and the gates of hell will never prevail against it.

When you receive the revelation of the Person of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, you can do the impossible.

Examples of people that had a revelation of Jesus Christ abound in the Scriptures:

a) Abraham received the revelation of the Person, Jesus Christ. That was why he against hope believed in hope. That was why he was fully persuaded that God would do what He said He would do (Romans 4:17-24).

b) Job received a revelation of Jesus Christ. That was why he refused to offend God even in the face of the terrible afflictions that came upon him. He knew that many are the afflictions of the righteous but God delivers him from them all (Psalm 34:19).

Job said, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him, for I know that my Redeemer liveth” (Job 13:15).

c) The woman with the issue of blood for 12 years received a revelation of the Person, Jesus Christ. That was why she said, “If only I could touch the helm of His garment, I will be made whole” (Mark 5:24-34).

d) Apostle Peter had a revelation of the Person of Jesus Christ. That was why he walked on water (Matt. 14:22-32).

e) Apostle Paul received a personal revelation of Jesus Christ.

In Galatians 1:12 Paul said, “For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

Ephesians 3:3-4 Paul said, “How that by revelation He made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, 4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ).”

f) Apostle John also had a revelation of Jesus Christ.

Revelations 1:1 says, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to shew unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass; and He sent and signified it by His angel unto his servant John.”

Beloved, you are carrying all the burdens you are carrying right now because you neither have a personal revelation of who Jesus Christ is nor do you know or understand what He said concerning your burdens (Matt 11:28-30; Ps 55:22; 1 Pet 5:7), your health (Ex 15:26; Isa 53:4-5; 1 Pet 2:24; James 5:14-16; 3 Jn v. 2), overcoming power (1 Jn 5:14-15; 1 Jn 4:4; Rom 8:31; Lk 10:19; Mk 16:15-18), fear (2 Tim 1:7; Jn 14:27), success (Jer 29:11; Joshua 1:8; Ps 1:1-3), protection (Eccl. 10:8; Zech. 2:5; Col 3:3; Isa 54:17), anxiety (Phil 4:6-7; Jn 14:1, 27), frustration (3 Jn v 2; Ps 25:27; Ps 72:7; Gal 3:13-14, 29). Don’t you know that Jesus said, “Prosperity is the reward of the righteous?” (Prov. 13:21)

No matter what you are going through right now, all you need is the revelation of the Person of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. A revelation of Jesus Christ will bring your situation to an immediate halt because Jesus is everything you want Him to be to you at any point in time. Are you in need? He is your Provider. Are you sick? He is your Healer. Are you lonely? He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother (Prov. 18:24). He is your Righteousness.  He is your wisdom. He is your sanctification. He is your Redeemer (1 Cor. 1:30). He is your Saviour (Acts 4:12), etc.

You are still sick because you have not received the revelation of the fact that He is Jehovah Rapha. You are in need because you have not received the revelation of the fact that He is EL-Shaddai. He is Jehovah Jireh. You are afraid because you have not received a revelation of the fact that He is your security – your shield and buckler (Col. 3:3; Isa. 54:17; Ps. 91; Ps. 23:4-6; Isa. 43:2). Shield protects you in three directions. But buckler protects you all round – north, south, east and west. A revelation of who the Lord Jesus Christ is will permanently put you on the side of victory.
