Many people in and outside the church today have heard about Jesus but they do not know Jesus. Simply put, they know about Jesus but they do not know Jesus. This is because such people have information concerning Jesus but have no revelation of Him.
Information without revelation kills. 2 Corinthians 3:6 says, “Who also hath made us able ministers of the New Testament; not of the letter, but of the Spirit: for the letter (information) killeth, but the Spirit (revelation) giveth life.”For instance, Samuel was in the church but did not know the LORD. 1 Samuel 3:7 says, “Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the Word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.”
Can you see that? The boy Samuel was in the church serving the LORD by assisting Eli, but (1) he did not yet know the LORD, and (2) the Word of the Lord was not yet revealed to him.
Unfortunately, this is the condition of many people serving in one capacity or the other in the church today.
Here is the problem: as long as you don’t know Jesus, you can never put your faith in Him. And as long as you don’t put your faith in Him, you cannot receive the abundant life He came to give us (Jn. 10:10).
The truth is that you can only know Jesus by revelation. So, in this series we want to look at “THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST.”
In the first place, it is the will of God that we know Jesus Christ personally. “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee (God the Father) the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (Jn. 17:3).
That was why Jesus asked His disciples, saying, “Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” (Matt. 16:13).
And the disciples said to Jesus, “Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets” (Matt. 16:14).
Then Jesus asked each one of His disciples, saying, “BUT WHOM SAY YE THAT I AM? (Matt. 16:15) Out of the 12 disciples, only Peter knew Jesus Christ. And Simon Peter answered and said, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God” (Matt.16:16).
What came out of Simon’s mouth was “revealed knowledge.” This is the exact knowledge because it came direct from God the Father via His Spirit.
And Jesus answered and said unto Peter, “Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood (your physical senses) hath not REVEALED it (who I am) unto thee, but My Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 16:17).
Peter got the knowledge of what he answered directly from God the Father. Revelation knowledge is not the knowledge that comes as a result of the information you’ve acquired. It is not dependent on how educated you are.
Peter got it at the spore of the moment directly from God the Father. Revelation knowledge is the knowledge that comes directly from God the Father to you. Revealed knowledge is that which comes from a divine source, and is communicated through man.
Do not think that you will get such knowledge while watching ungodly movies or a football match. You can get it when you seek God in spirit and in truth praying, fasting, and reflecting on the Word of God.
What is revelation knowledge? Revelation knowledge is not the knowledge that comes as a result of the information you’ve acquired. Revelation knowledge means exact knowledge. It is a knowledge revealed directly to your heart (spirit-man) by the Spirit of God dwelling in your spirit-man.
The knowledge contained in the Scriptures is revealed knowledge. That is why John called the book he wrote, the Book of Revelation. That was because he got this information directly from God the Father (Rev. 1:1-3).
What are the benefits of revelation knowledge?
1. When you get this type of knowledge you become very confident, solid and strong. You know that you know.
2. Revelation knowledge will help you stand in the midst of a ragging storm or severe opposition. For instance: It was the revelation of God’s Word the three Hebrew children, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego had that empowered them to walk in the fiery furnace (Dan. 316-18, KJV).
3. Revelation knowledge empowers you to do the unimaginable (unthinkable). It was the revelation of Jesus Peter had that empowered him to walk on water.
And Jesus said to Peter, “Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus” (Matt. 14:29).
4. Revelation knowledge will eliminate every atom of fear even when you are walking through the valley of the shadow of death.
The Psalmist said, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” (Isa. 23:4).
5. Revelation knowledge will cause your heart to be at peace when you are walking through the fire (Isa. 43:2).
6. Revelation knowledge empowers you to do exploits. “The people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits” (Dan. 32:11).
7. Revelation knowledge will literally change your identity, like it did for Gideon (Judges 6-7).
God calls you things there’s no evidence that they exist.
Let the weak say he is strong, Let the poor say he is rich, Let the sick say, he is whole, etc.
Yet, when they are real on the inside, there is nothing in the world that can stop it from showing up on the outside. The power of His Word is all you need.
8. Revelation knowledge gives a Christian the keys to the Kingdom (Matt. 16:19).
Once you get the keys, you won’t have to be bound another day in your life. Watch out for the new edition of Good News from the Pulpit!
