In every aspect of our lives here on this planet, God expects us to walk by faith, and not by sight. So today, I want to show us - “HOW TO WALK BY FAITH!” 2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we (Christians) walk by faith, not by sight.” How then can a person walk by faith?
1. When you believe and confess what God has said in His Word about your situation, you are walking by faith. You give life to your faith by confessing what God said about your situation.
Realize that nothing happens until you speak. In Joshua 1:8 God said, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”
For instance, a certain woman had been operated on twice for cancer at a well-known cancer hospital. When the cancer came back a third time, the doctors said that it had spread to every gland in her body, and gave her three months to live. At this stage this woman was looking like the picture of death. She came forward, and hands were laid on her according to Mark 16:17-18.
The power of God fell on her mightily and she said, “This is it. This is it. I know according to the Word of God I’m healed.” And that was the end of cancer in that woman’s life.
In another instance, a certain lady that was pregnant went for a scan, and the doctor said that the baby was dead. But the mother of the baby instantly replied saying what the Lord said about her situation – “this baby shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord” (Ps. 118:17). She continued with the confession daily until the baby was born, and the baby was born alive, and lives up to this day.
If you believe what God has said you will confess it. “Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, "I believed, and so I spoke," we also believe, and so we also speak, 14 knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into His presence” (2 Cor. 4:13, ESV).
You have to confess what God has said about your situation continually. “Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour My righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, who hath pleasure in the prosperity of His servant” (Ps. 35:27).
What is the guarantee that what you say will come to pass as you desire? The Bible says, “For all the promises of God in Christ are yea, and in Him Amen…” (1 Cor. 1:20).
Now, say after me: I know according to the Word of God that I’m healed (protected, promoted, prosperous). I choose to walk by faith in God’s Word, rather than by sight.
2. When you act on God’s Word concerning your situation, you are walking by faith. “And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. 19 And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. 20 And when He saw their faith, He said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee” (Lk. 5:18-20, Lk. 5:24-25).
While Jesus was in the house teaching the Word, some men brought their friend to Him to be healed. The man they brought had palsy and was bedfast.
The crowd was so much that these men could not press their way through to get to Jesus. But rather than give up, they determined to find a way to get their friend to Jesus.
So, they climbed to the roof, and through an opening in the tiling laid down the man that was bedfast before the Lord. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the man that was sick of palsy, “Rise up, walk, take your bed and go home.”
And immediately, he began to move, and when he did, healing was the result. Here is the truth: If he had refused to act on the Word of the Master, he would not have received healing. But because he acted promptly on the instruction of the Master, he received his healing.
In another instance, a certain evangelist was ministering to four people in wheel-chairs. In a very quiet voice this evangelist said, “Rise and walk, in Jesus’ name.” Three of these people got up from their wheel-chairs and walked. But the fourth one said, “I can’t walk. I have not walked in years.” The evangelist simply walked away, and left her sitting there. The others acted their faith, and reaped the results. The very one that refused to act his faith, also reaped the result of his unbelief – she remained in the wheel-chair.
Conclusion: I, therefore, personally challenge you to stop considering the magnitude of your problem, rather consider the magnitude of your God.
Stop considering your condition, but consider what God has promised you in His Word concerning that situation you are facing right now, and then rest in His power and faithfulness. Rise and be healed today, in Jesus’ name!
