“Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law” (Rom. 13:8, KJV).
Do you know that you are
going to hell if you happen to be owing anyone some money as at the time you
depart from this world? So many people are in hell today because of unpaid debts.
The Bible says, “The wicked borrow and don't pay back…” (Ps.
37:21).
And so, what will happen
to the wicked? “The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations
that forget (despise) God” (Ps. 9:17)
It is possible that right
now you are owing so many people that you really don’t know how to come
out of all that debt.
This is true: the life of
indebtedness is a life of bondage. God’s perfect will for your life is that you
live a life of overflow (Jn. 10:10) so that you can lend to nations and
be a blessing to others.
What
is debt? A debt is
something one person owes to another person. Whatever you do to enjoy today at the expense
of tomorrow is called DEBT.
Do
you know that if
you are indebted, you are under a curse? So, indebtedness brings you under a
curse (Deut. 28:43-44).
How
do debts come?
Debt comes as a result of one’s refusal to postpone his/her wants.
What
does it mean to owe?
To owe means to be indebted to someone.
A life of
indebtedness is a life of bondage. And that is not God’s plan for your life.
God’s will for your life is that you live a life of overflow (Jn. 10:10) so
that you can lend to nations and be a blessing to others. So
today, I want to show you how to deal
with the giant called debt so that you can go to the level of REST in your
finances.
How
then can one get out of debt?
1. Realize
that it is the will of God to help you come out of debt. It is the will of God that you are debt-free (Isa.
50:7).
2. Make up your mind to be debt-free. You must be determined to get out of debt.
3.
Put all further spending on hold until you are totally out of debt. You must discipline yourself to stop any
further spending until you have paid off all your debts. Stop buying until
you have finished paying all that you owe! For
instance, instead of eating out, you can fix your own
food at home.
4. Know
what you spend your money on. To be out of debt you must learn to spend your
money on appreciating assets – things that can yield you money in
future.
5. Cut
down on your spending. Spend on things that are
really relevant. Avoid frivolities. That
which you desire to buy, do you really have a need of it?
6. Be
very cautions of how you spend your money. You ought to be
content with such things as you have (1 Tim. 6:6).
7. You ought to plan your
spending (Gen. 2:15-17). “Good planning and hard work lead to
prosperity, but hasty
shortcuts lead to poverty” (Prov.
21:5).
8.
Don’t ever spend more than you earn. This should be your
pattern of spending your money:
1. Spending money: 80% of your income, 2. Your Tithe: 10% of your income, and 3. Compulsory Savings: 10% of your income.
9.
Whatever you cannot pay for immediately, forget it. Form the habit of never ever buying anything on
credit. If you must buy anything at all, it
must never be on credit no matter how pressing that may appear to be. Whatever you don’t have the cash to pay for
immediately is not the will of God for your life at that time.
10.
You should live below your means. You must live within and below your income,
and not above your income.
11.
Have the wealthy place mentality (mindset) (Ps. 66:12). As
you increase the greatness of this ministry, God will pull you out of the fire.
He will pull you out of the flood, and bring you into a wealthy place, a place
of fulfillment.
12.
Create an open heaven by being a faithful tither (Mal.
3:10). When you tithe you will
overflow in every area of life. When you overflow in your finances, you’ll be able to settle all your
bills, and still be a blessing to others.
In
Malachi 3:10 God said, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that
there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, if I will not
open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall
not be room enough to receive it.”
13.
Regularly review your expenditure.
Re-evaluate
the things you spend your money on. The things you are spending your money on, are
they really worth it?
14.
Create an out of debt flow. How do you do that? “And as you would like and desire that men would do to you, do exactly so
to them” (Lk. 6:31). You can give your way out
of debt by sowing into someone
else’s release from debt (Gen. 8:22; Lk. 6:38; 2
Cor. 9:6-8).
What have you done to get your church out of debt? There is a supernatural anointing that is
turned on every time you bear another person’s burden. Where have
you sown? Who have you helped to come out of debt?
What
you make happen for others, God will make happen for you! If you help others come out of debt, then God will
also help you come out of debt (Gal. 6:7).
15.
Realize that God is a debt-cancelling God. God cancelled the debt of
the widow woman whose husband was one of the sons of the prophets (2 Ki.
4:1-7). If God cancelled her debt because she sowed her last card towards the
work of God, He will also do the same for you if you would do what the woman
did.
16.
Start speaking your freedom. Speak to that mountain
called debt. Don’t speak about it but speak to it. Call those things that be
not as though they were. For instance, Jesus spoke to the fig tree (Mk.
11:13-23). From verse 14 we see that
the fig tree was talking to Jesus. Do you know that your debt is talking
to you each time you remember it? So
you should answer it by speaking faith-filled words to it.
You too can get out of
debt if you follow the above listed 16 steps.
I therefore, challenge you
to re-examine how you manage your money and then re-position yourself in line
with the Word of God so that you’ll not only come out of debt, but will also
cross over to the land of more than enough and dwell there continually. Taking
the above listed steps will surely bring you out of debt. Give it a trial.
Reject the spirit of lack and embrace the spirit of overflowing abundance
because that is God’s perfect will for your life.
