Today,
I am speaking on “THE GOD OF WONDERS.” Exodus 15:11 says, “Who
is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in
holiness, fearful in praises, DOING WONDERS?”
In
talking about the God of wonders, take note of the following:
1. God Himself is a wonder. Why? This
is because each time God changes position, you’ll see something new. For
instance:
In
1 John 4:8 the Bible says, “… God is love.” Heaven is an
expression of God’s love.
Hebrews
12:29 says, “For our God is a consuming fire.” Hell is an expression of the
wrath of God.
In
Revelations 5:1-9 the Bible says, “He is a Lamb. He is a Lion.”
2. What is the size of our God? He is
so big, and yet small enough to dwell in our spirits. That is a wonder!
2
Chronicles 6:18 says, “But will God in very deed dwell with men on
the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee;
how much less this house which I have built!”
In
Isaiah 66:1 God said, “…Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My
footstool: where is the house that ye build unto Me? and where is the place of
My rest?”
Yet,
in 1 John 4:4, He compresses Himself so much to become small enough to dwell in
our inward man.
1
John 4:4 says, “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because
greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
3. Our God is immortal and invisible.
Yet He can be found. That is a wonder!
First
Timothy 1:17 says, “Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise
God, be honour and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
Yet,
in Proverbs 8:17 the Bible says that He can be found.
In
Proverbs 8:17 God said, “I love them that love Me; and those that
seek Me early shall find Me.”
4. Not only is He a wonder, but His
name is WONDERFUL.
Isaiah
9:6 says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government
shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called WONDERFUL,
Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
The
word Wonderful = WONDER + FULL. That means that He is full of wonder.
5. Our God performs wonders in Heaven
and in the earth (Dan. 6:25-27).
Exodus
15:11-12 says, “Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee,
glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, DOING WONDERS? 12 Thou
stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.”
When
the situation facing you appears to be humanly impossible, recognize that God
is supernatural. He goes beyond the laws and power of nature. He is not in any
way limited by the laws of nature. He can do the impossible.
Psalm
77:14 says, “You are the God of miracles and wonders! You demonstrate Your awesome
power among the nations.”
NLT
puts it this way, “You are the God of great wonders! You demonstrate Your awesome
power among the nations.”
Mark
7:37 says, “They were completely amazed and said again and again, "EVERYTHING
HE DOES IS WONDERFUL. He even makes the deaf to hear and gives speech to
those who cannot speak."
i)
He
can perform wonders with the earth.
In
John 9:1-7 He healed a man that was born blind. He performed wonders with the
sand.
ii)
He
can perform wonders with water.
In
John 2:1-12, He turned water into wine.
iii)
He
can also perform wonders with the wind.
In
Ezekiel 37:1-10, He breathed on the dry bones and the dry bones came alive
again.
iv)
He
can change failure into instant success (1 Ki. 17:8-16).
v)
He
can make a way where men say there is no way (Ex. 14).
vi)
He
can perform wonders for you.
In
Psalm 40:5 the Psalmist said, “‘O Lord my God, You have performed many wonders
for us.
Your plans for us are
too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your
wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.”
vii)
He
can even turn you into a wonder (Acts 3:1-10). God turned the crippled man into
a wonder in that people were filled with amazement.
This
God made a 90 year old woman to conceive and give birth to Isaac (Rom 4:17-21).
People must have gathered in amazement at what the God of wonder has done.
Beloved,
what will happen to you after today will cause people to gather in amazement.
viii)
God
can perform wonders through you. God’s original plan is that after today,
you’ll be a carrier of His wonder working power.
In
Exodus 14:21-28, it was Moses that lifted the rod in his hands and the Red Sea
parted.
In
Acts 19:11-12 God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from
his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases
departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
There
are two kinds of wonders:
a)
Good wonders: In Acts 3:1-10 a crippled man began
to leap for joy. That is a good wonder. In 2 Kings 5:1-14 God healed Namaan of
his leprosy. In Mark 5:1-20, God healed the mad man of Gadara, and the man
became an Evangelist. That is a good wonder.
b)
Bad wonders: In 2 Kings 5, the leprosy that was on
Namaan came on Gehazzi, the man working with Prophet Elisha. In Daniel 4:30-33,
king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon became an animal and went to the University of
Forestry for 7 whole years.
What do you want? Good or bad wonder? For you to have
good wonders, you MUST surrender your life to Jesus Christ. But if you want to
have bad wonders, don’t surrender your life to Christ. The choice is yours!
I
challenge you to stop considering your condition, but consider what the God of
wonders has promised you in His Word concerning that your aching situation, and
then rest in His power and faithfulness. Allow the God of wonders to prove
Himself in your life today! Rise and receive your miracle by faith today! Watch
out for the next edition of Good
News from the Pulpit!
