Today we are sharing on “THE
SEVEN PLACES JESUS BLED FOR ME!” This is your season of unequaled victory!
God is about to change your situation (2 Cor. 9:8; Eph. 3:20)!
A number of Christians today
are not experiencing victory in their Christian walk because they have no faith
in the blood of Jesus. In Romans 10:17 the Bible says, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.”
Therefore, in this series on
the blood of Jesus, we want to build our faith in the blood of Jesus through a
diligent searching of the Scriptures.
Colossians 1:14 says, “In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the
forgiveness of sins.”
1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For ye are bought with a price….”
1 Peter 1:18-19 says, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things,
as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your
fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without
blemish and without spot.”
Revelations 5:9 says, “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and
to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God
by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.”
From the above Scriptures,
we establish that Jesus shed His precious blood to redeem man. Many think that
Jesus shed His blood for us at the cross of Calvary only. But the truth is that
Jesus shed His blood for us not once but seven different times.
The 7 places Jesus shed
His Blood represent the seven places of power, anointing, and atonement. Jesus shed His precious blood:
- At the circumcision (Gen. 17:1-12; Lev. 12:3; Lk. 1:59-60). What was redeemed here? The blessing upon you will catch up with your posterity as you circumcise your heart.
- At the Garden of Gethsemane (Lk. 22:44). What was redeemed here? Our will power!
- At the humiliation (Isa. 50:6; Lam. 3:30). This blood made a way for us to have the boldness to go to the very throne of God where we can now see Him face to face.
- At the whipping post (Matt. 27:26; Isa. 52:14; 53:4-5; Matt. 8:17; 1 Pet. 2:24; Jam. 5:14-16). What was redeemed there? Our health!
- At the crowning with thorns (Jn. 19:2). What was redeemed there? Our prosperity.
- At the nailing to the cross (Ps. 22:16; Col. 2:14-15). What was redeemed here? The power to succeed, prosper and the ability to receive spiritual inheritance.
- At the piercing of the side with a spear (Jn. 19:32-34). What was redeemed here? Wholeness of heart and fullness of joy.
1. At the circumcision. The first place
Jesus bled for me was when He was circumcised.
Circumcision is the removal of all or part of the foreskin from the
genitals.
Luke 2:21 says, “And when eight days were
accomplished for the circumcising of the child, His name was called
JESUS, which was so named of the angel before He was conceived in the womb.”
One of the ceremonies that
Jewish families went through soon after a baby’s birth is the Circumcision of the baby. Every
boy was circumcised and named on the eighth day after birth (Lev. 12:3; Lk.
1:59-60). Circumcision symbolized the Jews’ separation from Gentiles and their
unique relationship with God (Lk. 1:59).
Going back to the book of
beginnings, Genesis 17:1-12
says, “…10 This
is My covenant, which ye shall keep, between Me and you and thy seed after
thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.11 And ye shall circumcise
the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt Me
and you.12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you,
every man-child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought
with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.”
Notice that the site of
circumcision is the organ for reproduction. That
implies that the blessing upon you will catch up with your posterity as
you circumcise your heart. The Jews are still reaping
from the seed Abraham sowed in Genesis 22.
2. At the Garden of
Gethsemane. The second place Jesus bled for me was at the Garden of
Gethsemane before His betrayal. At the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus sweated heavy
drops that were like blood.
Luke 22:44 says, “And being in an agony He prayed more
earnestly: and His sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling
down to the ground.” “And being in agony He was praying
very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the
ground” (Lk. 22:44, NASB).
Another translation puts it
this way, “And being in agony, He
prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling
down to the ground.”
It
was in the Garden of Eden that Adam lost his willpower. He lost his ability to
say no to sin and to all that is evil and of the flesh. In another Garden
(Gethsemane), Jesus gained this power back for us when He said no to following
His own desires.
When
Jesus went to the Garden of Gethsemane, He knew full well what He was going to
redeem for us there - our willpower. So when He was tested, He finally prayed: “Father, if thou be willing, remove this
cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done”
Now,
through Christ we have power to say no to sin, every kind of bondage and
selfish self-seeking that we may get into.
Bloody sweat is a rare medical condition. It is thought to result from haemorrhage of
small blood vessels into the sweat glands. It occurs only in extreme
emotional stress. Certainly Jesus was seriously emotionally stressed
because of our sins.
In Genesis 3:17-19 God said
to Adam, “Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy
wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt
not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of
it all the days of thy life; 18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth
to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; 19 In the sweat of thy face
shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou
taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
Because of the fall of Adam
God cursed the ground and said that man shall eat bread by the sweat of his
face.
But after the prayer of
Jesus in the Garden
of Gethsemane during
which He shed those drops of blood, we no longer eat bread by the sweat of our
face. Rather we eat bread by the grace
[unmerited favour] of God. It is no longer by labour, but by favour. As
the blood of Jesus touched the ground at the Garden of Gethsemane, every curse
pronounced on the ground was immediately cancelled. The blood of Jesus replaced
the sweat man was supposed to sweat and brought us into the season of sweatless victory. Hallelujah.
Do you know that Jesus is
praying for you right now? He is praying for you even while you are sleeping?
Luke 22:45 says, “And when He rose up from prayer, and was come to His disciples, He found
them sleeping for sorrow…”
Luke 22:41 says, “And He was withdrawn from them about
a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed..” Limitations are by stones. But while Jesus prayed stones were rolled
away. The stones in your life have been rolled away (Josh 5:9).
3. At the humiliation.
The 3rd place Jesus bled for me was during the humiliation.
They smote Jesus’ cheek. In Lamentations 3:30 the Bible says, “He giveth His cheek to him
that smiteth Him…”
They buffeted Jesus’ face. “Then
did they spit in His face, and buffeted (strike violently) Him;
and others smote Him with the palms of their hands” (Matt 26:67).
Jesus gave His cheeks to
those who plucked out His beards. In Isaiah 50:6 Jesus said, “I gave …My cheeks to them that plucked
off the hair: I hid not My face from shame and spitting.”
As they pulled out His
beards, blood was on His face. This blood made a way for us to have the
boldness to go to the very throne of God where we can now see Him face to face
(Heb. 10:19-20).
4. At the whipping post.
The 4th place Jesus bled for me was when those wicked Roman soldiers
flogged Him after tying Him to
a whipping post (Isa. 50:6; Isa. 52:14; 53:4-5; Matt. 8:17; 1 Pet. 2:24).
In Isaiah 50:6 Jesus said, “I gave My back to the smiters…”
The Bible says, “So
then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him” (Jn. 19:1).
Jesus was brutally
whipped at the whipping post, and by His stripes we are healed of every
sickness and disease. When He was flogged 39
stripes, I believe that for each stripe, when Jesus shouted a shout of pain, He
was saying, “Cancer you are defeated, stroke you are defeated, epilepsy,
asthma, malaria, migraine, arthritis etc. you are defeated.”
It has been
scientifically proven that there are 39 ways through which sicknesses come into
the world. In other to make provision for ALL types of sicknesses, Jesus
received 39 stripes, each stripe representing all the assorted kinds of
diseases that man could ever suffer.
Let
me draw your attention to the truth that every sickness is a curse for breaking
the law of God. It is the blood of Jesus that breaks this curse for us. There
is now no disease that Jesus cannot heal (Ps. 103:3). His body was broken up so
that ours can be made whole. However, these sicknesses may also come due to
negligence and later be enforced by the kingdom of darkness.
Jesus
also symbolized this breaking of His body in the breaking of the bread at the
Last Supper; He was showing how His body would be broken for our healing.
Therefore, everyone who receives Him qualifies to receive His healing power.
The curse of sickness is broken by His blood!
“But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and
with His stripes we are healed” (Isa. 53:5 KJV).
The
scourge was the cruelest form of punishment as one was whipped 39 times using a
whip known then as a ‘cat of nine tails’. This whip had nine strands each with
pieces of sharp bones and metal and a heavy piece of lead at the end of the
cord.
According
to the law, one could be whipped 40 times but many times they would stop one
short of it at 39. This was because 40 whips were often found fatal. However,
the whip left one totally broken.
Psalms
129:3 says, “The plowers plowed upon my back…” Isaiah 50:6 says, “I gave My back to the smiters…”
Jesus
went through untold suffering so that we may be healed. The Scripture has this to say: “As many were astonied (dazed, bewildered) at
Thee; His visage was so marred more than the sons of men” (Isa. 52:14).
Many
were amazed when they saw Him - beaten and bloodied, so disfigured one
would scarcely know He was a person.
Jesus was flogged and disfigured beyond recognition.
In His suffering, the Messiah was so bruised, beaten, marred, disfigured,
mutilated, injured, spat upon, torn apart, that His outward appearance was
awful to behold.
“…He was wounded for our transgressions;
He was bruised for our iniquities…” (Isa. 53:5).
Beaten and bruised, Jesus bled on the inside. He was beaten and bruised so much that He suffered from many internal
injuries. Out of the severe beatings Jesus received, He had internal wounds and
bruises.
By this internal bleeding
Jesus liberated us from the power of transgressions and iniquities
so we can live a life free of curses.
What is transgression? A transgression is something
that you do with full knowledge that it is a wrong thing to do. It is willful
sin.
What is iniquity? Iniquity is a weakness or fault
you were born with. For example your mother had anger, your grandmother had it,
and so do you. It is a generational sin that is handed over to you. For
example, Abraham had a lying problem, so did Isaac and so did Jacob. Jesus came
to break the hold of these from us.
His body was broken that ours might be put
together. Jesus became so disfigured and destitute of His natural beauty and
handsomeness that men were stricken with amazement, disgusted and heart-sick at
what they saw.
Beloved, sickness disfigures and mutilates you.
So, Jesus rather took it upon Himself for us and became our Substitute.
As it is written, “...and by His STRIPES, we are
healed” (Isa. 53:5). “...and by whose STRIPES, we were
healed” (1 Pet. 2:24).
Notice that the
Roman soldiers did not whip Him in the chest but at the back. Why? The chest
represented the future, the things ahead. The back represented the past.
Therefore, the greatest pain you have to endure is in your past already.
From the beginning, God’s plan for man is that he
should be healthy, and not suffer any type of sickness.
Exodus 23:25 says, “And ye shall
serve the Lord your God, and He shall bless thy bread and thy water; and
He will TAKE SICKNESS AWAY from the midst of thee.”
In Exodus 23:26 God
said, “…..the number of thy days I will fulfil.” If you obey the
Lord, He will take sickness and disease away from you. You will not be sick!
You will enjoy divine health!
In Deuteronomy
28:15 the Scriptures say, "But it shall come to pass, if you do not obey the
voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments and His
statutes which I command you today, that all these curses will come upon you
and overtake you:”
This
verse doesn’t mean that if the children of Israel disobeyed God, God will send
curses upon them; this verse is simply stating that if the children of Israel
disobeyed God, the curses would be able to come upon them and overtake them
because disobedience takes God’s people out of His Presence. And when you are
out of His Presence, you are out from under His protection! Disobedience breaks
God’s hedge of protection around His people.
However, when man fall from that grace of divine health, God
provided divine healing by sending His only begotten Son to come and pay the
price for sin.
Deuteronomy
7:15 says, “And the LORD will take away from
thee ALL sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt,
which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.”
Isaiah 53:4-5 says, “Surely He hath borne our
griefs (Heb. – sicknesses), and carried our sorrows (Heb.
– diseases): yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and
afflicted. 5 But [the truth is that] He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was
upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.”
1 Peter 2:24 says, “Who His own self bare our
sins in His own body on the tree that we, being dead to sins, should live
unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
Psalm 107:20 says, “He sent His Word, and healed
them, and delivered them from their destructions.”
Because in Isaiah 55:11 God said, “So shall My
Word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void, but
it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing
whereto I sent it.”
The Word of God is anointed (Acts 10:38; Isa. 61:1-3).
James 5:14-16 says, “Is any sick among you? Let
him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing
him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith
shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed
sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and
pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much [makes tremendous power available].”
5. At the crowning with
thorns. The 5th place Jesus bled for me was when those wicked
Roman soldiers cruelly drove the crown of thorns into His head. What is the
significance of the crown of thorns of thorns? The crown of thorns symbolizes
the curse of poverty. He took this curse for us, that we through His poverty
might become rich.
The ground was cursed when
Adam and Eve disobey God – they moved out of the blessings of God. Jesus went
to the cross to reconnect us to these blessings - the blessing of total
prosperity.
In John 19:2 says, “And the soldiers platted a crown of
thorns, and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe, 3 And said,
Hail, King of the Jews! And they smote Him with their hands.”
In Genesis 3:18 God said, “Thorns also and thistles shall it
bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field…”
God said, “…cursed is the ground because you messed
up.”
In Matthew 27:29-30 the
Bible says, “And when they had platted
a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand: and
they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
30 And they spit upon Him, and took the reed, and smote Him on the head.”
The soldiers desired to use
the thorns, a product of the curse, to produce a crown. Because of the blood of Jesus, every curse in your life is changed
to a crown.
On His way to Calvary, the
women were weeping and wiping the blood on His face. He said to those crying
because of His condition, “Weep not for Me, rather weep for yourselves…”
6. At the nailing on the
rugged cross. The 6th time Jesus bled for me was as the Roman
soldiers drove those wicked nails into His hands and feet and nailed them to
the cross.
Colossians 2:14-15 says, “Blotting out the handwriting of
ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of
the way, nailing it to His cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities
and powers, He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Psalm 22:16 Jesus said, “For dogs have compassed Me: the assembly of
the wicked have inclosed Me: they pierced My hands and My feet.”
As Jesus was nailed to the
cross, every petition the devil ever wrote against you was also nailed to that
same cross.
They nailed Him to the cross
with 9-inch nails. They drove these nails through the palms of His hands and
feet. Hands and feet are the symbols of economic strength. They are the symbols
for work. The devil planned to keep Jesus out of work. But the devil made a
grievous mistake in that wherever Jesus walked after that experience, there was
a bloody footprint. Therefore, wherever you walk as a child of God, you are
bound to record success in your life, in your business, your marriage etc.
Whatever you touch is bound to come with profit, all because of the blood.
What is the significance of Jesus on the tree [cross]
with the nails on His hands and feet? The significance is the blood dropping. Why? The blood was dropping so
that “the blessing” might come upon the Gentiles (Gal. 3:13-14). So, the only
way anyone can have access to “the blessing” is through the blood of Jesus
Christ.
Here
Jesus freed us to receive our inheritance. Until then, we could not receive
what is ours because our hands were still defiled by sin. Satan could claim
before God that we were not qualified to receive anything and it would be so.
But
when the blood oozed from the palms of Jesus, it was to take away the curse on
the work of our hands, to take away the sin that was testifying against us, and
to free us to lift our hands to God in worship.
The
Scriptures speak of lifting ‘holy hands’ to God. Now we can do that because our
hands have been purified through the blood of Jesus. Also the work of our hands
can be blessed because the curse that was on the work of our hands was lifted
by His wounded hands. Now everything we do can prosper!
Every drop of His blood has an eternal significance.
Blood from His feet restored dominion to man.
In Genesis 3:13-15 the Lord God said unto the woman,
“What is this that thou hast done? And
the woman said, the serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 14 And the Lord God said unto the
serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and
above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt
thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee
and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and
thou shalt bruise his heel.”
At the crucifixion Jesus allowed His feet to be
bruised just to restore dominion to man.
On the Cross, a great exchange took place.
2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For He [The Father] hath made Him [Jesus Christ] to be sin for us, who
knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.”
By letting His heel to be bruised, He bruised
Satan’s head. He disarmed principalities and powers that were against us. They
no longer have what they used to have. He took the bullets out of their guns
and smashed their guns.
Colossians 2:15 says, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made a shew of them
openly, triumphing over them in it.”
Satan had the power (Heb. 2:14). But now he has it
no more.
Hebrews 2:14-15 says, “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He
also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might
destroy HIM THAT HAD THE POWER of death, that is, the devil; 15 And
deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to
bondage.”
7. At the piercing at the
side. The 7th place Jesus bled for me was when that Roman
soldier pierced His side with a spear.
John 19:34 says, “But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced
His side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.”
When His side was so
pierced, a mixture of water and blood came flowing out. For this kind of
mixture to come out, it means that the person has been dead for at least 30
minutes.
When
Jesus died, the soldiers did not pierce His heart, only His side. But when they
did, blood and water came out, showing that he literally died of a broken
heart. It is medically proved that a high level of agony can cause water to
collect around the heart.
When
Jesus first begun His ministry, He said God has sent Him to ‘heal the broken-hearted’ (Lk. 4:18-19). So beloved, the enemy
may have done many things to crush your heart and will to live, you may have
gone through many things at the hands of men, but when we come to Jesus, broken
hearts are made new again.
Beloved,
regardless of what has been done against you by anyone to break your heart, the
heart of Jesus was broken so that yours can be made whole again. Broken not
by the spear, but by the anguish, and the blood that came from there was
to make your heart whole again. You can have a brand new heart from the
Master today. You can have your joy restored again. No more sad and gloomy and
depressed days, for joy has been repurchased back for you!
But,
why blood and water? The water likewise cleanses the defiled water in our
bodies. The evil water that has been passed to us from generation to generation
is destroyed as the water from the body of Christ now purifies and fills our
lives. Now the enemy can defile our bodies no more; we are cleansed!
Hallelujah!
Now Jesus was already dead.
What else did the Roman soldiers want from Him? They wanted to break His legs.
The two thieves on the cross already had their legs broken. Pilate and the Jews
wanted His legs broken but God blocked it. There are some things the devil had
planned to happen to you but God blocked them.
In Isaiah 54:15, 17 God
said, “Behold, they
shall surely gather together, but not of Me. Whosoever shall gather against you
shall fall for your sake…17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and
every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn…”
God did not want Jesus’ legs
broken because He knew that Jesus had more work to do. Jesus is working all
things everywhere right now for your own good.
The Roman soldier pierced
Him at the side because he was not at the level of Jesus anymore. He was
already lifted up; and He said that whenever He is lifted up, He will draw men
unto Himself. Listen friend, the people that are attacking you right now are
doing so because they are not at your level. God has promoted you already in
spite of their attacks because many are the afflictions of the righteous but
God delivereth him from them all. If you are walking closely with God, there
will be pain, but you don’t have to worry because that pain will surely turn to
gain. Weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning (Ps. 30:5).
And
of course, with all said and done, Jesus said ‘IT IS FINISHED’, showing that
the work of redeeming mankind was completed. Now man could be restored back to
God. The curtain in the temple was ripped from top to bottom. A new and a
living way had been made into the holiest, a new way through the breaking of
the body of Christ, through His blood. Now we may boldly approach the throne of
the Father and obtain mercy and find grace to help us in our times of need.
What a good God! What a loving Savior! What a great work of redemption! What
manner of great restoration! What great freedom has been purchased for us; and
that only through The Blood of Jesus.
This
blood that was shed on the cross will never lose its power. Now we are not just
restored to what we lost in the Garden of Eden (Adam’s state as son of God) but
we are given another second nature; we are fashioned after Jesus’ state as Son
of God. We are not of the order of the first Adam anymore, but of the second,
raised from the dead, and with glorious power! Think about Jesus where He is
right now. How glorious do you imagine Him to be? This is the same state God
has elevated you to.
It is done! It is finished! This 7th
time was the last time Jesus bled or will ever bleed for us. It is done! Seven
is the number of God. Whatever you are going through right now, it is the last
time it will ever happen in your life again. Affliction shall not arise a
second time. You are going right away
from crucifixion to resurrection because 7 is the number of completion. It is
the conclusion of the matter! It is done!
Watch out for the next edition of Good News from
the Pulpit!
